Medieval Mikwe of Erfurt
Permanent exhibition A Mikwe is a Jewish ritual bath. Religious cleansing – needed after having had contact with blood or a dead person - is achieved through total immersion in the bath. This Mikwe originated in the 13th century and has a Roman predecessor. It was discovered in 2007, during building works.
