The Old Synagogue, Erfurt

The Old Synagogue gives us an insight into the life and culture of the Jewish community in medieval Erfurt. Exhibited are documents about the structural history of the building, which is the oldest Synagogue in central Europe thats completely preserved from floor to ceiling. Also shown are other exceptional historical testimonies of Erfurt, among them a unique treasure, that was found in 1998.
Medieval Hebrew manuscripts illustrate the advanced spiritual life of the Erfurt community.
